Masquerading only works on emails that are sent recallable.
A masqueraded email address is an email that appears to come from a domain that it did not actually originate from. To masquerade your bigstring.com email address, you must have at least one other email address that you control.
Examples:
you@hotmail.com
you@yahoo.com
you@gmail.com
Also, note that in the header information of a masqueraded email, there will be references back to the sending server which is a bigstring.com server. This is in accordance with accepted RFC policies on the internet.
Most recipients never see header information.
Login to the Bigstring web site under your bigstring.com account
Click "Preferences" on the top navigation bar
Click the Masquerading Preferences Button.
Refer to section 7. Masquerading:
Enter a new masquerade address
This MUST be an email address you have control over.
Click the "Apply" button to start the verification process.
You will receive this message at the top of "Preferences" after clicking Apply:
There has been an email sent to jdoe@hotmail.com requesting validation of the masquerade. Please check this address and click on the link inside that email to confirm your new masquerade address.
Log on to the account you are trying to masquerade as. In this example we need to go log into hotmail.com and check our mail there.
The email will be from webmaster@bigstring.com and the subject will be Bigstring Email Address Verification
Once you have received the verification email from Bigstring, click the link in the body of that email. It will open up a browser and prompt you to log back in to the Bigstring site.
There was a request to use this address as the default
email address to send mail from a bigstring.com account.
If that is your wish, please verify by clicking the link below and logging in.
Click Here to verify Saturday 12th of March 2005 10:56:17 AM 66.210.132.118
Once you have clicked this link->Click Here to verify, the masquerade address is now verified. You will see a page like this:
Verification Successsful!
Verify processing for aliasing jdoe@hotmail.com to jdoe@bigstring.com has
completed. You may click the button below to go login,
or simply close this window. When you return, the alias address will be available
for your use.
Best Regards,
Bigstring Support
At this point the masquerade address has already been verified. Click and log into your account* and go to "Preferences" and refer to section 7. Masquerading:
*Make sure you are using your @bigstring.com address information to log in, and NOT the address for which you are masquerading. You will always use your @bigstring.com information to log in to the Bigstring.com web site regardless of the masquerading address.
In Preferences you will now see an additional email address listed as a Current Masquerade Address.

You can change this on a email-by-email basis by using the drop down box for "From" while composing an email.

Edit: You can edit a masquerade's Display name here. You cannot change the email address. If you need to change the address you will need to delete the masquerade, add the new one, and go through the verification process.
Delete: Delete a masquerade address. You cannot delete your masquerade address that is actually your account. You can change the display name by using the Edit button.
Make Default: The default address is the one that will always be selected as the "From" address when going to compose a new message.
Now you can test your masqueraded email address by sending yourself an email
from the Bigstring web site.
It will appear to have come from the masqueraded address rather than the
bigstring.com address. If you use a mail client like Outlook Express, this will also work as long as your "Always Send Recallable" Preference is set to "yes".
